Pre-Treatment

Like its close relatives peach and almond (also in the Prunus genus), apricot seed has embryonic dormancy and requires cold stratification: clean the pit, place in moist sand inside a sealed bag, and refrigerate at 40°F (4°C) for about 8-12 weeks before sowing.

Pre-Germination Prep

After stratification, bring the seed to room temperature to trigger germination. Use a well-drained mix.

Sow the stratified pit 3-4cm deep.

Post-Care & Growing On

Keep moist following the chilling period.
