Pumpkin needs significant space — a large grow bag (20 inches+) works for the plant, but vines will still spread widely and are best trained along a fence or trellis if space is tight.
Sow directly into warm soil from February–March or June–July, avoiding frost-prone winter months.
Germination takes 7–10 days in warm soil (above 21°C). Soaking seeds overnight before sowing can speed this up slightly.
Most varieties take 90–120 days from sowing to a ripe, harvest-ready fruit, indicated by a hardened rind and dried stem.
